The Bradwell School in Palatine Township was named for Thomas Bradwell, James Bradwell’s father. Built in 1851 on Ela Road, it became School District 17 and was later replaced by a brick schoolhouse (Palatine Centennial Book, 1855–1955).
Myra Colby was teaching in the area in 1851, the same year the Bradwell School was built.
