Stephanie Hoops writes fiction. She grew up in suburban Detroit and attended the University of Michigan, where she majored in oboe performance and minored in English. Following in her father's footsteps she went to law school, graduating with honors. She practiced law for three years before feeling summoned to write. Her journalism career began in Chicago and took her to Houston, Alabama and California. She often combined her legal background with her newspaper reporting, becoming an award-winning journalist while writing fiction for pleasure in her spare time.  She now lives with her husband and dog in Southern California and can often be found swimming, gardening and playing the piano.
